Setup Lipscomb Gmail on iPhone

First you must enable IMAP in your Google Apps account on the web:


1. Sign in to start.lipscomb.edu.
2. Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
3. Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
4. Select Enable IMAP.
5. Click Save changes.

Delete your old Lipscomb Exchange account on your iPhone:


1. Tap Settings
2. Mail, Contacts, Calendars
3. Tap your Lipscomb account and choose Delete Account

Set up e-mail on your iPhone:


1. Tap Settings
2. Mail, Contacts, Calendars
3. Add account...
4. Tap Other*
5. Tap Add Mail Account
6. Enter your account information, being sure to use your full Lipscomb email address.
7. Tap Save
8. For Incoming Mail Server:
    - Host Name is 'imap.gmail.com'
    - User Name is your username@lipscomb.edu (Not your firstname.lastname@lipscomb.edu)
9. For Outgoing Mail Server:
    - Host Name is 'smtp.gmail.com'
    - User Name is your username@lipscomb.edu (Not your firstname.lastname@lipscomb.edu)
10. Tap Save
11. Verify that the setting "Use SSL" is set to "ON"

Set up Contacts and Calendar syncing on your iPhone:


1. Make sure your device has version 3.0 firmware or above. You can check your current version by going to Settings > General > About > Version. To upgrade, follow the instructions at http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/.
2. Note: Your contacts and calendars will be deleted on your iPhone if you choose to sync these with the Google servers. As a precaution you can perform a sync with iTunes to ensure that Contacts and Calendars from your iPhone are backed up to your computer.
3. Tap Settings

5. Add account...
6. Tap Exchange
7. In the Email field, enter your full Lipscomb Google Account email address. You may see an "Unable to verify certificate" warning when you proceed to the next step.
8. Leave the Domain field blank.
9. Enter your Lipscomb Google Account email address, including '@lipscomb.edu', as the Username. (Do not use your firstname.lastname address)
10. Enter your Lipscomb Google Account password as the Password.
11. Tap Next at the top of your screen.
12. Choose Accept if the Unable to Verfiy Certificate dialog appears.
13. A new Server field will appear. Enter m.google.com.
14. Press Next at the top of your screen again.
15. Select the Google services you want to sync. Currently only Contacts and Calendar are supported.
16. Unless you want to delete all the existing Contacts and Calendars on your phone, select the Keep on my iPhone option when prompted. This will also allow you to keep syncing with your computer via iTunes.

You've set up Google Sync for your iPhone. Synchronization will begin automatically if you have Push enabled on your phone. You can also open the Calendar or Contacts app and wait a few seconds to start a sync.
